Registering your child for kindergarten is an exciting first step toward their educational journey.
Our kindergarten program is designed to create a warm, nurturing environment where young learners feel supported as they explore new concepts and skills. On Friday, September 19, Mrs. Thompson’s Enriched 7th Grade ELA class had the privilege of hearing from Doogs (Durgesh) Parbhoo, owner and manager of the Minit Mart on Locust Street.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Doogs shared his powerful life story with students, describing his experiences growing up during Apartheid and the challenges that ultimately led him to immigrate to the United States.
With honesty and courage, Doogs spoke about the difficult realities of racial discrimination while maintaining a positive and hopeful outlook. Students were deeply engaged—asking thoughtful questions and reflecting on the lessons of perseverance, empathy, and resilience.
Doogs’ visit offered students meaningful insight into the human impact of Apartheid and inspired them to appreciate the power of understanding and determination. His story is a powerful reminder of what it means to overcome obstacles and pursue success with passion and purpose.
