850- Music Appreciation- Grades 10-12, One Semester, ½ Credit.

This course is for students with and without prior musical training. Students will learn about a variety of genres of music through the evolution of classical to present-day music. Students will listen to, analyze, and describe the music of many different styles. In addition to studying many aspects of music, including artists and composers, students may also have the opportunity to play rhythm and percussion instruments and try woodwind and brass instruments. As part of the class, students will also learn basic note reading and musicianship that could be a springboard for them to be a productive amateur or professional musicians.
