District Moves to K-12 Remote Learning

Dear Northwest Local Families, Remote Learning Image

As stated throughout the pandemic, we are committed to informing you of any developments that impact our schools and those we serve. We have seen an increased rate of positive cases among staff, students and throughout the community.  Knowing these numbers are not likely to improve after the holidays, the District will transition to remote learning beginning Monday, January, 4, 2021 through January 15, 2021. The district plan is to return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. This date is subject to change based on recommendations from the health department and the state of Ohio.

All students currently learning in person (5 days a week) will transition to a temporary remote learning model. Their learning will continue to be delivered through Google classroom. A daily remote learning schedule and information will be provided by each building. Each building’s remote learning schedule is available on the district webpage on the Remote Learning page located under the parent menu. Please read the building information carefully and review it with your child. Their attendance is mandatory and will be taken each scheduled period in grades 6-12 and daily in grades K-5.

Students who have been learning online already through the Acellus platform, will continue to remain on the Acellus platform.

We will communicate by Thursday, December 24, 2020, our plan for the distribution of breakfast and lunches during this remote learning period.  Please check the district website for additional information and watch for an email that will be sent to families.

Any athletic, or extra-curricular events that have already been scheduled will go on as planned. If changes occur that impact athletics and/or extra-curricular activities, notifications will be sent out as soon as they become available.

The SCIP Preschool program will be in contact with families regarding their plans for January 4 - 15, 2020.

Our buildings will not be completely closed as staff will still attend work daily to deliver instruction from their classrooms.  This also means that if your child needs any materials, you may call the school to come and pick them up.
