Welcome to Northwest Local Schools

Ohio Department of Education Finance Director Roger Hardin met with the Northwest Board of Education at the monthly meeting on Monday, September 29. He, along with a team that includes the State Auditor’s office, is forcing the district to make difficult cuts if a levy for additional revenue is not passed by the community.
The Board of Education approved a third round of reductions totaling 1,300,200 dollars. The elimination of these programs and services allow the Superintendent and Treasurer to proceed with the Fiscal Caution worksheet required by the Ohio Department of Education. In addition, the Board discussed reducing graduation requirements from 21.5 credits to state minimum standards. This reduction in requirements will encourage students to take fewer classes, thus allowing the district to reduce the number of teachers in the school district.
